Due to the number of road tests conducted, you may have to wait several weeks to take your test. Please take this into consideration when you schedule your test. See more information about scheduling and taking a road test.
Reservations are now available for road tests statewide.
Please Note: We will honor all pre-licensing course completion certificates expired during the COVID-19 emergency until further notice. Customers whose road tests were canceled because of COVID-19 are being given priority for rescheduling.
For the safety of everyone at our road test sites, you, your accompanying driver and any passengers in the vehicle must wear face coverings and maintain 6 feet of distance from other customers and staff whenever possible. To maintain proper social distancing, you should only arrive with one accompanying driver. Face coverings include cloth, surgical masks, N-95 respirators, or face shields. You will also need to disinfect the passenger side of the vehicle with disinfectant wipes upon arrival. DMV road test examiners will wear gloves, face coverings, and will have hand sanitizer.
You, your accompanying driver, and any passengers in the vehicle will have your temperature taken and be screened prior to beginning the test. If you or anyone in the vehicle fails the screening process, your road test will be canceled and rescheduled.
Road tests will be rescheduled if any of the individuals who have been screened have a fever (temperature of 100 degrees or higher), are exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, or have had recent, close contact with anyone who tested positive for COVID-19. Road tests will also be rescheduled if any of these individuals have traveled within 14-days of the scheduled road test to a state/country with significant community spread of COVID-19, as outlined in the New York State travel advisory.
For more information, see Schedule and Take a Road Test.
Do not appear for your road test if you:
Please note close contact does not include individuals who work in a health care setting and are wearing appropriate, required personal protective equipment (PPE).
